The Hindu newspaper reported today, Saturday, that Emina Jabbarova, the first deputy foreign minister of Ukraine, is scheduled to visit India, on Monday, and that she will seek humanitarian aid and equipment to repair energy infrastructure damaged during the Russian war
India, which holds the G20 presidency this year, has refrained from blaming its ally Russia for its war with Ukraine and has sought a diplomatic solution while boosting its purchases of Russian oil.
Japarova, who will become the first high-ranking Ukrainian government official to visit India since the war, will call on New Delhi to send a "strong message for peace" to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is due and will visit India in July for a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the newspaper said. Again in September for the G-20 Summit.
Ukraine is asking India for more humanitarian aid including medicines, medical equipment and energy equipment to repair the energy infrastructure that was damaged during the war, and the two sides are expected to discuss the delivery of such support, the newspaper said, quoting diplomatic sources
The newspaper said that Jabbarova is expected to invite Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Kiev.
