Ukraine's Deputy PM Iryna Vereshchuk renewed her calls to the Russian army leadership to provide an evacuation corridor for civilians in Mariupol.

"We strongly demand establishing a humanitarian corridor from the "Azov Steel" complex for women, children, and other civilians," Vereshchuk wrote on Telegram, noting that these officials face convictions for war crimes if they refused.

Russian forces said earlier today that they had stopped firing on the steel factory for several hours and offered to surrender to the remaining Ukrainian forces.

A large number of civilians are still in the factory, and they do not believe the Russians, according to Mykhailo Vershynin, the chief of the Mariupol patrol police.
