Six citizens were killed and 15 others injured in a Russian attack by rocket launchers on Slovyansk, eastern Ukraine, According to the mayor of the city.
"The shelling of Slovyansk is the most violent in a long time, Mayor Vadim Lyach said in a video on Facebook,
"There are 15 fired and many dead and injured."
On her part, Tetyana Ignachenko, a spokeswoman for the Donetsk region, in which Slovyansk is located, told a Ukrainian website that the shelling left 6 dead and 15 others wounded.
The authorities have repeatedly appealed to residents to leave the area, while the front lines are now located a few kilometers from Slovyansk.
According to Ukrainian media, after the Russian strikes, a market in the city caught fire.
The city of Kramatorsk, the administrative center of the Donbas region, was shelled for the second day in a row by Smirch missiles, according to Oleksandr Goncharenko, the city's mayor, who explained that the strikes targeted a residential area and an uninhabited hotel, and no casualties were reported.
