The United Kingdom has voiced its opposition to any further expansion of Israeli military operations in Gaza, according to a report published Thursday by The Telegraph, citing a spokesperson for the British government.

The government spokesperson called on Israel to halt its ongoing offensive in the Palestinian territory and to allow immediate and unrestricted access for humanitarian aid. The statement comes amid intensifying international concern over the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.

The spokesperson also reaffirmed the UK’s continued refusal to issue export licenses for military goods that could be used by Israel in the conflict. “The United Kingdom maintains a strong commitment to international law and responsible arms exports,” the spokesperson said.

This follows earlier remarks made in late March by British Defence Secretary John Healey, who announced that all arms export licenses to Israel were under review. At the time, Healey stated, “We have no plans to make any changes to current arms export licenses to Israel,” signaling a cautious but firm stance.

The latest statements from London reflect growing pressure on Israel from its Western allies to de-escalate the violence in Gaza and prioritize humanitarian considerations as the conflict continues.
