Prominent Ugandan Muslims protested the arbitrary raids and arrests of mosques by the country's security forces.

Parliamentarian Osman Basalirwa said, in a statement, that the raids on mosques and arbitrary arrests of opinion leaders are illegal and discriminatory.

In turn, parliamentarian Hassan Kirumira confirmed that they will not remain silent about the illegal arrest of Muslims by the security forces.

On his part, Ashraf Zziwa Mufwala, spokesperson for the Supreme Islamic Council in Uganda, condemned the arrest of Muslims without any justified reason.

On the other hand, Ugandan police spokesman Fred Enanga announced, in statements, that the arrested persons will appear before the court soon.

During the last month, the security forces in Uganda arrested more than 15 Muslim personalities, including Sheikh Yahya Mwangi, one of the leaders of the "Tableegh Group".
