Uganda celebrated its 62nd independence from the United Kingdom yesterday. Celebrations were held across the country, with the national flag being raised and the national anthem being played.
In the capital, Kampala, President Yoweri Museveni attended the celebrations held at Independence Square. Museveni delivered a speech in which he emphasized the importance of independence and the need to work towards building a better future for Uganda.
"Today is a day to celebrate our independence and our achievements," Museveni said in his speech. "We have come a long way since independence, but we still have much to do. We are committed to building a better future for Uganda, where all of our citizens have the opportunity to prosper."
The celebrations also included a military parade and musical and cultural performances. The celebrations were attended by many foreign guests, including ambassadors from friendly countries to Uganda.

Historical Significance of Independence Day
