UAE Mourns Passing of Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Announces Official Mourning Period

The United Arab Emirates has entered a period of mourning following the death of Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, a key figure in the nation's history and the representative of the ruler in the Al Ain region. His nephew, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, declared a seven-day period of official mourning, during which flags will be lowered across the country starting today.

In a heartfelt statement from the Presidential Court, it was said: "May God shower His mercy upon the deceased and grant him paradise, and may He provide the noble Al Nahyan family with patience and consolation during this difficult time. We belong to God and to Him we return."

Sheikh Tahnoon was not only a pivotal figure in the UAE's governance but also a lifelong companion and trusted confidant of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the United Arab Emirates. Throughout his distinguished career, Sheikh Tahnoon held several high-ranking official positions. In a tribute to his significant contributions, a major roadway linking Al Ain and Dubai was named after him in 2018, symbolizing his influence on the nation's development and connectivity.
