The U.S. Embassy, in partnership with the American University in Cairo, held Regional English Language Office Educational Hub training in Luxor, Alexandria, and Cairo. Outstanding Egyptian teachers from previous RELO Hub training taught advanced English teaching methods to 240 of their peers, who hailed from 15 governorates.

At the December 11 closing ceremony, U.S. Embassy Regional English Language Officer Micah Risher said, “Each of you has an important role to play in helping young Egyptians to learn English and to broaden their world perspectives. Thank you for your dedication to education.” Risher also awarded certificates to the participants and offered special recognition to the program mentors who have cascaded knowledge gained from American professors, online courses, and international conferences to hundreds of teachers and thousands of students over the past 18 months.

The previous RELO Educational Hub in 2019 was hosted by Deraya University in Minya for 650 teachers. Since 2006, the U.S. Embassy has invested $11 million in programs that helped 6,000 Egyptian students learn English language communication skills. In addition, Embassy-sponsored professional development programs for hundreds of English teachers annually have contributed to improving English language skills for more than 800,000 students.
