Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şen, met with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit. The Turkish ambassador presented the letter of Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan regarding his appointment as Permanent Observer of the Republic of Turkey to the Arab League, to the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
The ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Secretary-General for his kindness and warm reception.
He said in his statements about the meeting, “Turkey, from now on, wants to revitalize cooperation using existing mechanisms by giving priority to activities that focus on peace, stability, cooperation and development.”
He also stressed that Türkiye strongly supports the unity, integrity and development of all Arab countries and is ready to work jointly for the well-being of the Turkish and Arab peoples.
Mutlu Şen tackled the situation in Gaza, saying: “We stand shoulder to shoulder with the League of Arab States, especially in redressing historical injustice and establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, within the 1967 borders, and in solidarity with our oppressed brothers in Gaza, where brutality continues".
Ambassador Mutlu Şen revealed that “the phone call held by our Minister with Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on December 5, demonstrated Turkey’s determination to strengthen its relations with the League of Arab States".
