The Turkish Ministry of Defense signed on Sunday a new military agreement with the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA). Turkey will provide the GNA Naval Forces with 47 military items.
In a statement by the Turkish Ministry of Defense published on its Twitter account, it said that the agreement stipulates that Turkey will allocate 47 types of items needed by the Libyan GNA`s Naval Forces Command.
The ministry pointed out that the agreement was signed at the Turkish embassy in the Libyan capital Tripoli. It was attended by officials of the Libyan GNA Ministry of Defense.
Supplying the GNA naval forces with military items represents violation to the arms embargo on Libya approved by the Security Council and the decisions of the Berlin Conference. It reflects Turkish intentions to support and strengthen the Government of National Accord to implement its own project in Libya.
It is worth mentioning that the Turkish Ministry of Defense is also implementing training programs for members of the GNA militias and the Navy.
