Turkey has initiated trade restrictions on Israel effective Tuesday, encompassing the export of various goods such as cement, iron, and steel used in construction, in response to the conflict in Gaza, as announced by the Ministry of Commerce in a statement.

The Turkish ministry conveyed via social media, "This decision will remain in effect until Israel announces an immediate cessation of hostilities and allows appropriate and continuous entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza."

Ankara had declared on Monday that Israel rejected Turkey's request to airdrop humanitarian aid onto Gaza. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated, "There is no excuse for Israel to obstruct our attempt to drop aid parachutes to the hungry Gazans."

He added, "We have decided to take a series of new measures against Israel."

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is among the staunch critics of the war waged by Israel against the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip. He has described Israel as a "terrorist state" on multiple occasions.

On Tuesday, Israel pledged to take action against Turkey, accusing it of violating the trade agreements between the two countries.

Israel's commitment came after Turkey imposed trade restrictions on Israel on Tuesday. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a release that "Turkey is unilaterally violating trade agreements with Israel, and Israel will take necessary steps against it."
