Tunisian President Kais Saied affirmed that there is no room for injustice, extortion, or confiscation of funds, as rights are preserved within the framework of the law.

This came during his meeting with Mohamed Al-Aqrabi, President of the Tunisian Professional Association for Banks and Financial Institutions (APTBEF), and members of the association Mona Said and Mr. Hisham Al-Rubai, at the Carthage Palace.

Said urged the activists in the banking and financial institutions sector to make an extra effort in this exceptional period and to support Tunisian people, by reducing the interest rates in force, as much as possible, so that part of it returns to the National group.

On Sunday evening, Tunisia’s President decided to dismiss Tunisian Prime Minister Hicham Mechichi, suspend the country’s Parliament, and waive the immunity of all its members.

These decisions came in the wake of widespread protests across Tunisia against the PM and Ennahda, the Islamist ruling party affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, over the nation’s economic and social turmoil.

President Saied announced that he would assume control of the executive authority with the assistance of a new prime minister. This is the biggest challenge yet to a 2014 democratic constitution that split powers between the President, Prime Minister, and Parliament.
