In line with its commitment, by using the power of an African and Arab effective member under the procedure of the UNSC, Tunisia set to organize a consultation on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue.
According to Sudanese sources, Tunisia is set to bring the issue of the GERD again on the table of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session as soon as possible.
As a member of the Security Council, Tunisian will continue to promote such coordination and vigorously pursue its efforts to bring the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) on the table of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session soon.
Tunisia has unequivocally stated its commitment to the Arab region’s security, affirming that Egypt and Sudan’s water security is part and parcel of the Arab region’s security.
Tunisian proposal is demanding that Ethiopia sign a legally binding agreement on the filling and operation policies of The GERD.
This proposal also tends to dissuade Ethiopia from proceeding with filling the dam without reaching a legal deal with downstream countries.
It’s worthy to mention that the stance of Ethiopia on settling long-standing issues between the three countries and improving trilateral relations had remained unchanged.
