Today, the Tunisian Interior Minister Tawfik Sharaf Al-Din announced the dismantling of 33 terrorist cells and the killing of 9 'takfirists'.

Sharaf Al-Din revealed that the security forces carried out 48 pre-emptive operations recently, during which they managed to dismantle 33 terrorist cells and the killing of 9 militants.

The minister continued: "Tunisia goes through exceptional conditions, and it needs additional efforts to eliminate terrorism and dismantle all armed groups."

He added that the security units, with the support of the military units, managed to arrest 1020 people for belonging to terrorist groups.

Many terrorist organizations are active in Tunisia, which is based in the Shaanbi Mountains, such as the Uqba Bin Nafi Brigade of Al-Qaeda, and the Jund Al-Khilafah Brigade affiliated with ISIS.

During 2020, Tunisia saw several terrorist operations, including one targeting a security patrol in the area of the US embassy, in May, and two police officers were killed.

Another operation was targeting the governorate of Sousse, in early September, in which a police officer was killed.

Political circles in Tunis accuse the Brotherhood organizations of spreading takfiri ideology and motivating youth to move towards extremism and violence and join terrorist groups.
