On Wednesday, Tunisian Health Authorities recorded the first case with JN.1, the latest spread variant of Omicron.

Riadh Daghfous, the head of Centre National de Pharmacovigilance, said that they detected the case after the center analyzed the samples of 60 patient at Charlles Nicolle Hospital, adding that the symptoms are normal.

He expressed that the symptoms are like flu ones, and in some cases would be lighter than the cold and flu, however, it rapidly spreads.

The Tunisian officials also pointed out that people who are suffering from immunity issues, critical medical issues, and elders should follow protection protocol to avoid any health complications.

It is worth mentioning that, World Health Organization (WHO) recently warned of the spread of a new strain of the coronavirus, the BA.2 subvariant, calling it a "variant of concern".

It also urged caution against the spread of the virus in different parts of the world and the increase in the incidence of COVID-19 from the new strain.
