 Tunisia: 6.32% Voter Turnout for   Referendum Today

The head of the Independent High Authority Elections in Tunisia, Farouk Bouaskar, announced the extension of the period for Tunisians abroad to vote in the referendum on the new draft constitution until ten o'clock in the evening local time instead of six in the evening.

Bouaskar confirmed, during a press conference today, Monday, that the number of voters who voted during the first three hours amounted to 564,753 voters, a rate of 6.32%.

He explained that it is a high percentage compared to the 2019 elections, which recorded 1.6% during the same period.

The head of the commission revealed that the number of accredited observers reached 5,802, including

  • 678 local observers and 124 foreign observers including 886 local journalists and 225 foreigners.
