On Wednesday, Twitter CFO Ned Segal, announced that the ban imposed on former US President Donald Trump is permanent and the latter will never be able to use the platform again even if he run for presidency in 2024.
In a statement, Segal directed his words to Trump, Saying: “When you're removed from the platform, you're removed from the platform, whether you’re a commentator, you’re a CFO, or you are a former or current public official,” said Segal. “Remember, our policies are designed to make sure that people are not inciting violence. And if anybody does that, we have to remove them from the service and our policy is not to allow people to come back.”
Trump was banned from major social media services following the Capitol riots, initially for a short period, then permanently.
In a statement at the time, Twitter said Trump’s last tweets, regarding the election and saying he would not be attending Joe Biden’s inauguration, “must be read in the context of broader events in the country and the ways in which the president’s statements can be mobilized by different audiences, including to incite violence.”
