Juliet Touma, Director of Media and Communications at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), confirmed on Sunday that “the UN Security Council resolution without a truce may offer little for the Gaza Strip.”
This came in a statement made by Touma to the American newspaper “The New York Times”, and the contents of the UN agency were published on its account via the X platform.
Regarding the UN Security Council resolution calling for increasing the entry of aid into Gaza, Touma said: “We welcome the resolution, but only time will determine the real difference it will make, and its importance for increasing the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.”
The UN official concluded her speech by saying: “The UN Security Council resolution without a truce may offer little for Gaza.”
It is worth noting that the Security Council adopted a resolution calling for taking urgent steps to allow the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and to create conditions for a ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian fighters.
Since last October 7, the Israeli occupation army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, which, as of Sunday, has left 20,424 dead, 54,36 wounded, most of them children and women, massive destruction of infrastructure and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, according to the Gaza Strip authorities and the United Nations.
