Good nutrition throughout life is essential to good health. Eating a healthy diet can help reduce the risk of obesity, and many other diseases.
"If people cannot follow a plan every day, no diet recipe can help," Egyptian Clinical Nutrition & Obesity Consultant Karim Gamal said.
According to Gamal, many dieters change from one type of diet to another, so they never allow their bodies to get into a healthy rhythm. Others start out strongly on a program and lose a few pounds.
Thus, when their weight stays the same for a few weeks, they become discouraged and lose their self-control. When people feel down, they eat a piece of chocolate and ice cream to make them feel better.
In the same context, some people use food as an escape as well as a reward. If they have done something well, they think they"deserve it".
Dieters also need to pay attention to the food they eat. They should read food labels carefully. Though a food package may say "low fat," manufactures sometimes replace the fat with carbohydrates, sugar, and other fattening substance.
In fact, these are just a few of the reasons why people's diets fail, but they all arise from their state of mind and their ability to pay attention.
Gamal also gives some tips for people who are trying to lose weight and seeking a successful diet.
“Tell your family you’re trying to lose weight,” Gamal said. “Their effective support will help you keep going. Remember, it’s never too late to get started.”
