There’s no doubt that fasting offers numerous health benefits. However, many of us neglect drinking enough water and fluids during the non-fasting hours, which often leads to dehydration by the end of Ramadan. This dehydration can be reflected in several forms, such as dry skin and hair. Here are some tips to help rehydrate your body:
It is necessary to get enough water or fluids, including juices, after Ramadan. Fasting can often lead to dehydration as the body loses water and minerals through urination and sweating.
Add to your meals vegetables that are rich in water and fiber, such as lettuce, cucumber, and iceberg lettuce. Try to have a large bowl of salad with a tablespoon of olive oil with each of your three main meals.
Moisturize your skin by using nourishing oils suited to your skin type, especially after washing your face or taking a shower. Coconut oil, sesame oil, and olive oil are excellent natural moisturizers.
Make sure you’re sleeping well at night. Proper rest helps your skin naturally produce oils, which are essential for healthy, hydrated skin.
Eat hydrating cooked vegetables like zucchini, as it is rich in water and helps moisturize the body when included in your meals.
Limit drinking tea and coffee, as they can lead to further dehydration by causing your body to lose water.
Use sunscreen to protect your skin during the daytime to prevent it from becoming dry due to sun exposure.
