These Natural Materials Will Help Getting Rid of Mosquitoes

Summer is a  hot season in terms of weather, and thus, unfortunately, mosquitoes and their bites might find way to us. Most types of mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk.

And although these insects can cause numerous fatal diseases such as malaria, dengue and yellow fever, most people just suffer the typical symptoms which are itchy mosquito bites.

Experts are providing how to best take care and apply use certain natural mosquito repellent to get rid of those unwanted guests.

  • Camphor: Camphor is a natural home remedy that will assist in getting rid of mosquitoes around your house or apartment. Its strong odor drives mosquitoes away.

    All you have to do is close all of the doors and then light camphor. After about 30 minutes, you'll notice that you won't find any mosquitoes.

  • Garlic: Garlic is made up of several properties that help keep mosquitoes away. To test this method out, you can crush a few cloves of garlic and then boil them in water. Then, you'll want to pour the solution in a spray bottle and spray it around your room, garage, etc.To your surprise, this solution made up of garlic will kill mosquitoes instantly. And the scent will dissipate to your nose within minutes, so no need to worry of your home reeking of garlic.
  • Coffee Grounds:Almost everyone has coffee grounds in their apartment and it just so happens to be one of the home remedies for getting rid of mosquitoes.Stagnant water increases the number of mosquitoes around, so all you need to do is pour coffee grounds in the stagnant water around your environment. Mosquito eggs will come up to the surface and die due to not having any oxygen.
  • Lavender Oil: Mosquitoes can't stand the scent of lavender oil so you can use this to your advantage. Keep mosquitoes away by spraying lavender oil around your home and surrounding areas. Fun fact: You can also put some on your body to avoid getting bit!
  • Mint: Similar to lavender oil, mosquitoes also hate the smell of mint. Once again, use this to your advantage! Take fresh mint or mint oil and place it around your environment. You can also consider growing mint shrubs to keep them away for good!
  • Dry Ice: This is a more time-consuming mosquito repellent method, but it works well. You can place dry ice inside a container or trap and eventually, it will attract mosquitoes due to its carbon dioxide emissions. They'll get trapped and die inside of it.
  • Tea tree oil: Tea tree oil contains numerous anti-bacterial properties that are beneficial in treating different injuries and illnesses. The same goes for mosquitoes. 

    Just mix a few drops of tea tree oil in some water and add it to a spray bottle. Spray the solution around your environment and it'll become mosquito free.

  • Basil leaves: Those are known for killing mosquito larvae. What does this mean for you? You can simply plant a basil plant in your backyard or at the entry points of your home. You can also spray some basil oil to repel mosquitoes.
  • Pinion Wood: Start burning some pinion wood — a common wood used for outdoor fireplaces — outside your house or apartment and the smell will start killing mosquitoes almost instantly. They can't handle the smell and will die pretty quickly.
