The President’s Surprise that Dazzled Me, Op,ed

In a surprise to everyone, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, accompanied by the ministers, had an inspection tour in Cairo’s Ezbet Al-Haggana to follow-up on the ongoing development happening at the slum district. Many people thought that it was through video-conference, but they were surprised that it was a visit to the alleys and streets of that slum area, which many fear even approaching its suburbs.

Every day we notice the president's humanity, sympathy and love for the people of his country.

Ezbet Al-Haggana is one of the most needy, poorest and dangerous slums. It is the first time that the President of the Republic, along with the Prime Minister and 11 ministers, visit a slum area to inspect the conditions of the citizens there and how they live, so as to draw up a plan for the development of this area.

In a wonderful humanitarian gesture that touches the heart of every Egyptian citizen, the president walks on his feet among his people, who welcomed him with chants and joy. Through this move, the president provides a new lesson about the rights of those people.

Since taking office, the president has been keen to make the slums file top priority, therefore he set  a developing plan that transformed many slums into safe and healthy cities and residential areas, in addition to building residential complexes in new cities to accommodate future generations, such as  Asmarat which was transformed from a slum area to a city with parks.

More than 242 thousand housing units were implemented for the residents of the dangerous slums, whose inhabitants were dying daily due to pollution and insecurity. Hundreds of areas have witnessed a great development process, including Gheit El Enab in Alexandria and other areas that were transformed by president Sisi to cities where the citizens can enjoy  a decent life, putting an end to the nightmare of the slums.

Within 6 years, we have overcome the shame that was distorting the image of Egypt, dazzling the world by eliminating this nightmare in a record time. We managed to eliminate most of these areas and we are still fighting this 'cancer', which needs about 3 to 4 trillion pounds, but President Sisi is the miracle maker who not only developed Cairo's slums, but also started a comprehensive plan to develop villages, to change the lives of 55 million Citizen forever.

Thanks to this policy, the president succeeded in building a new person, who realizes the president’s keenness on his interests. May God protect Egypt, its people and its president.
