Over two weeks, I wrote two articles the first is "The New Minister of Education...and the Bogeyman of High School" while the second one was " Whirlpool of Tansik".
Well, The Minister of Education held a press conference and presented the development project, which came at the right time after a lot of suffering.
There was fuss about canceling history, geography, philosophy, and logic subjects, and this proposal bothered me very much. So how can we cancel studying our country’s history, world history, and geography from the students’ curricula? Therefore, I was happy that the minister approved it and denied this proposal and these rumors.
I read the Minister Muhammad Abdel Latif's decisions again. I found that first-year secondary school students will study six subjects, instead of ten, which are (Arabic language - the first foreign language - history - mathematics - integrated sciences - philosophy and logic), As for geography, it will be redesigned to be cancelled from the curricula in the first year of secondary school only, and it will become an obligatory subject for the literature section in the following year, and the second foreign language will become a subject of highs and lows outside the total marks, in addition to redesigning the mathematics subject to be one subject, so that the subjects that students will study in the second year of secondary stage will be six subjects instead of eight, the students of the science division will study (Arabic language - the first foreign language - mathematics - biology - chemistry - physics), and the students of the Mathematics division will study five subjects instead of seven (Arabic language - first foreign language - mathematics - chemistry - physics).
This is what we were calling for, to reduce the burden on the student, while all the family members were suffering to pay private lessons for ten subjects, now they became six in the first year, five in the second.
As for community dialogue, I wish we had heard about it. It is a file for every home in Egypt. The issue of alleviating the burden on the student and the family was achieved, I hope the Thanaweya Amma bogeyman disappears. I hope that the new project succeeds because many projects were proposed before and were not completed.
