German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has resumed training with Barcelona, ending a long spell on the sidelines since the start of the season due to a back injury.

Ter Stegen had suffered a serious injury last season that limited his involvement and left a significant gap in Barça’s defense, forcing the club to rely on backup goalkeepers.

In September, the goalkeeper sustained a complete tear of the patellar tendon in his right knee, which required surgery followed by a lengthy rehabilitation period before returning to the pitch.

His comeback coincides with administrative changes at the club, led by Joan Laporta, who is preparing to run in the upcoming presidential elections, raising questions about the future of Barcelona’s goalkeeping position this season.

In another development, Barcelona continued their strong scoring run in La Liga under German manager Hansi Flick.

Their victory over Deportivo Alavés brought the team to 34 consecutive league matches in which they have found the net.

Barcelona clinched a hard-fought 3–1 win over Alavés on Saturday in Matchday 14 of the Spanish league.

The win temporarily lifted Barça to the top of the La Liga standings with 34 points, two points ahead of rivals Real Madrid, who were set to face Girona on Sunday. Alavés, meanwhile, sit 14th with 15 points.
