On Wednesday, French authorities presented preliminary charges to Telegram Co-Founder and CEO Pavel Durov after allegations over organized crime on the application and prevented him from leaving France until the end of the investigation.
Durov was detained on Saturday at Le Bourget airport in France as part of an investigation opened earlier this year.
On Wednesday, judges filed preliminary charges and demanded Durov to pay 5 million euros bail.
He should also show up twice week, according to a statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office.
Allegations against Durov include that Telegram is used for child sexual abuse and drug trafficking, in addition, Telegram refused to share information or documents with investigators.
Durov's lawyer David-Olivier Kaminski said: “It’s totally absurd to think that the person in charge of a social network could be implicated in criminal acts that don’t concern him, directly or indirectly.”
