Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen and Vice President William Lai will each donate a
month's salary to earthquake relief efforts in Turkey.
The presidential office said in a statement that Tsai and Lai, who are widely expected to run in the presidential elections scheduled for next year, "hope to do their part to help
Turkey rebuild its homeland as soon as possible."
Taiwan, announced $2 million for disaster relief and sent two rescue teams to Turkey tohelp in the search for survivors.
Last year, Tsai and Lai also donated one month's salary to support humanitarian relief
efforts in war-torn Ukraine.
Tsai's salary is about 400,000 Taiwan dollars (13,300 US
dollars) per month.
