Syria has expressed its desire to rejoin the Arab League, signaling a potential step toward reintegration into regional diplomacy.

Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Hassan Al-Shaibani announced this during a joint press conference in Damascus on Saturday with Arab League Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki.

Al-Shaibani stated that Syria is eager to resume its seat at the Arab League, a move that could redefine the nation’s role in Middle Eastern politics after years of isolation.

The development comes as Syria’s new leadership works to re-establish its presence on the regional stage.

Zaki emphasized that the Arab League is actively engaging with member states to facilitate Syria’s return to the fold.

Syria’s membership in the Arab League was suspended in 2011 in response to the onset of civil conflict. Recent geopolitical developments and shifting alliances have reignited discussions about Syria's potential reintegration.

Observers suggest that this move could herald a new era of regional diplomacy, paving the way for economic collaboration, political dialogue, and renewed influence for Syria within the Arab League framework.
