Lieut. –Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, issued strict directives to the local government of South Darfur, in the west of the country,  and the State Security Committee to resolve tribal disputes, militarily, and strike with an iron fist on anyone who violates the law.

Today, Friday, Dagalo instructed the governor of South Darfur state, Hamid Mohamed El-Tijani, and the state security committee to disperse and prevent any tribal gatherings by military force and to apply the emergency law immediately to resolve tribal conflicts in South Darfur.

It is worth noting that the western parts of Sudan had suffered from chronic tribal disputes over the scarcity of water and pastures.
