Atlético Madrid star Luis Suárez confirmed that he would not celebrate if he scored against his former team Barcelona, indicating that he still has a strong relationship with Barca's Captain Lionel Messi.

"If I scored against Barcelona, I would not celebrate, I will not denounce my teammates and my former club, Barcelona has given me a lot," Suarez said in statements reported by Mundo Deportivo newspaper.

"Facing some Barcelona former teammates is a special case, but I will defend the Atlético shirt till death," he added.

When asked about his relationship with Messi, Suarez said: "Messi is an adult and can make his own decisions. I have not tried in the past to convince him of anything and will not convince him of anything in the future, he just has to live happily and make decisions that suit him and make him happy."

"My relationship with Messi goes beyond football, we still talk constantly about many topics that go beyond football." he added.

"Messi is 33 years old and knows how to deal with every situation. I see him with the same enthusiasm that I saw before in his eyes," the Uruguayan striker continued.

Suarez concluded his speech, saying: "Messi is still enjoying and does not give up, sometimes he fails to score but he continues to try, and this says a lot about him."
