Spain delivered a historic performance in the European qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, thrashing Turkey 6-0 in a one-sided clash on Sunday night at the Medas Konya Büyükşehir Stadium.

The Spanish side wasted no time asserting dominance, with Pedri scoring twice and Mikel Merino netting a hat-trick. Ferran Torres added another goal to complete the demolition. The goals came in rapid succession, with strikes in the 6th, 22nd, 45th, 53rd, 57th, and 62nd minutes, leaving Turkey unable to respond.

With this emphatic victory, Spain moved to the top of Group E with six points, having scored nine goals and maintained a clean sheet across their two matches.

Turkey, on the other hand, dropped to third place in the group standings with three points, following one win and one defeat. The Turkish side has so far scored three goals but conceded eight, highlighting the scale of their defensive vulnerabilities.
