On Wednesday, South African Football Association (Safa) president Danny Jordaan was arrested amid allegations that he made use of the Safa funds for personal interests.
The South African organizsed crime investigation unit, Hawks, investigated claims of fraud and theft at Safa between 2014 and 2018 estimated at $72,000.
In March, Hawks checked Safa offices in Johannesburg, confiscating a laptop, USBs, external hard drives, and documents.
Jordaan is accused of hiring a private security company for his interests and a public relations company without authorization.
Jordan made an appearance at the Palm Ridge Magistrates court in Johannesburg today.
Safa’s chief financial officer Gronie Hluyo and businessman Trevor Neethling are involved, and they were arrested.
