In a huge upset, South Africa eliminated African Cup of Nations hosts Egypt in the last 16, after scoring a goal late into the game shocking the football world and putting an end to the Pharaohs dream of winning the iconic tournament on their home turf.
South Africa, who had lost two of their three group games qualified into the knockout stages, showed great improvement, showcasing their dominance throughout the whole match, leaving 70,000 Egyptian fans shocked at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday.

This was a great display from South Africa who ironically beat one of the weakest Egyptian national team versions in recent memory. South Africa kept control of the midfield, with Egypt having no attacking strategy whatsoever.
Thembinkosi Lorch scored in the 85th minute, after the Egyptian defense failed to cover up the holes against the Bafana Bafana's counter attack.
Egypt's only real scoring chance came in the 25th minute of the first half through a Mohamed Salah sprint, which resulted in a beautiful pass to Mahmoud Trezeguet who failed to capitalize on the one on one.
They will now meet Nigeria, who earlier on Saturday eliminated holders Cameroon in a come-from-behind victory, in Wednesday’s quarter-final.
