On Tuesday, the Somali army announced the killing of 19 militants of ‘Al-Shabaab’, a terrorist movement, and the burning of two vehicles carrying them in the southern Bay province.
The Somali National Army, supported by South West state security forces, carried out a vital operation targeting ‘Al-Shabaab’ bases in the region, according to a statement issued by the Somali Armed Forces.
The operation that took place in villages near the southwestern Somalia town of Dinsor, is basing on information from the people about their gathering in the area, according to the statement.
"Our forces have succeeded in destroying the stronghold where the terrorists were hiding," according to the Commander of the Somali National Army Odowaa Yusuf Rageh.
“We managed to inflict heavy losses on the terrorist group,” the military official mentioned claiming many ‘Al-Shabaab’ fighters were killed while others were wounded in the fighting.
The Somali army is carrying out specific military operations against the terrorist movement, which is affiliated to ‘Al-Qaeda’ in the south and central Somalia.
