The Director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), Rami Abdel-Rahman, said on Thursday that there are more than 7 thousand Syrian mercenaries who are still deployed at Libyan territories under the control of the Government of National Accord (GNA).

He pointed out that the Syrian mercenaries have been brought by Turkey.

He noted that UN agencies are communicating with him to get the estimates of the SOHR regarding the transfer of Syrian mercenaries at the Libyan territories.

Abd al-Rahman, in statements to the London-based newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, said: “We have monitored the return of approximately 10,700 mercenaries to Syria through Turkish territory, before the signing of the ceasefire agreement between the Libyan parties to conflict.

"However, a few days after the ceasefire agreement was signed, we were surprised that the process of returning these people to their homeland through Turkish territory stopped," he noted.

Earlier, the SOHR have revealed that the Turkey have deployed more than 18,000 Syrian mercenaries, including 350 child soldiers. It also stated that a total of 10,750 returned to Syria after completing the duration of their contracts and receiving their salary fees
