The lawyers acting for the detained former Saudi crown prince and interior minister Mohammed Bin Nayef have warned that he has been subjected to a systematic campaign on social media that might endanger his life, according to the Guardian newspaper.

In a report published yesterday, the British newspaper said that the lawyers sent a letter to "YouTube" company, requesting it to delete a viral video which claimed bin Nayef's involvement in a plot to overthrow the current Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman.

The lawyers indicated that the video may run the risk of inviting serious retribution and harm to their client, but "YouTube" has not yet acted on the complaint.

In the letter to YouTube, the lawyers affirmed that the allegations promoted by the video that Bin Nayef is free and was seen next to US president-elect Joe Biden are totally baseless, and part of an elaborate conspiracy theory that he is working to undermine Mohammed bin Salman.

Moreover, the lawyers said that their client is, in fact, still imprisoned in his country since March, adding that bin Nayef's loyalty to the Saudi Crown Prince 'remains constant'.
