An avalanche swept away a group of tourists in the Himalayas in northeastern India on Tuesday, killing at least seven and injuring 11, officials reported.
Army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat said in a statement that rescuers were searching for at least 30 others.
The Indian Frontier Roads Organization mentioned that the avalanche struck tourists near the Nattu La mountain pass in Sikkim state. It added that rescuers pulled 22 survivors from the ice and took them to a hospital for treatment.
Video footage released by the Indian army showed rescuers digging through snow to find the missing people who were swept down a mountain slope by the avalanche.
Nathu La mountain pass is located along the border with China and is a major tourist destination.
