CAIRO, Jan 2 (SEE) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi spoke over the phone with U.S. President Donald Trump Tuesday night. Both leaders exchanged New Year greetings.
President Sisi and his US counterpart also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and joint efforts to restore stability in the region so as to reach political solutions to ongoing crises, notably in Libya, Syria and Yemen.
President Trump valued Egypt's efforts in this regard.
During the phone conversation, Sisi and Trump tackled ways to enhance bilateral relations and need to further strengthen cooperation across various fields, notably military cooperation, combating terrorism and extremist ideology, given the common challenges and the strategic relations the two countries share.
Moreover, Sisi touched on Egypt's counter-terrorism efforts, reiterating the Egyptian people and leadership's resolve to continue efforts to root out terrorism.
The President underscored the importance of continuing joint coordination and cooperation with the U.S. to support these efforts.
