President Abdel Fattah El Sisi instructed the concerned authorities to speed up Port Said tunnels operation.
In a meeting with the Suez Canal Economic Zone, SCZone, Chairman Engineer Mohamed Yehia Zaki, Sisi was briefed with latest developments of the SCZone strategy.
Port Said Tunnels Importance
"President Sisi called for opening officially the Port Said tunnels in November," said Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
Rady noted that the tunnels will play a significant role in facilitating trade movement.
The president asked the officials to intensify efforts and upgrade cooperation levels among the state's institutions to help the currently-constructed projects succeed.
In another regard, Sisi received a number of heads of delegations participating in the 12th edition of the National Institutions for African Human Rights Conference.
"Sisi lauded the comprehensive human rights conception which embraces all social, health, life and educational rights," Rady noted.
Sisi Receives NHRIs Delegations' Heads
The Network of African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRI) is a not-for-profit- regional umbrella organization that brings together 44 National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) in Africa.
Founded in 2007, NANHRI is registered under Kenyan laws as an independent legal entity. Its Secretariat is hosted by the Kenya National Commission for Human Rights in Nairobi. The Network works towards the establishment and strengthening of NHRIs in Africa.
It provides capacity building, facilitates coordination and cooperation among NHRIs by linking them with other key human rights actors at the regional and international levels.
Earlier on Tuesday, President of the National Council for Human Rights Mohamed Fayek announced that Egypt officially took over the presidency of the African Network of National Human Rights Institutions.
The Network of African NHRIs and the National Council for Human Rights of Egypt (NCHR) have organized the 12th Biennial Conference to be held in Cairo, Egypt, on November 5-6, 2019 preceded by the NANHRI General Assembly on November 4, 2019.
The meeting, which brings together key speakers, presenters, participants from state and non-state bodies, will discuss the role of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) in the Implementation of the Global Compact on Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, under the theme: “The GCM: African NHRIs common vision, opportunities and challenges in its implementation”.
