Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has renewed his call for the international community to shoulder its responsibility in supporting the reconstruction of Lebanon, stressing Egypt’s unwavering commitment to the country’s stability, sovereignty, and development.
Welcoming Lebanese President Joseph Aoun during an official visit to Cairo, President El-Sisi described the occasion as a reflection of the deep-rooted and strategic ties between Egypt and Lebanon, emphasizing that both nations have long represented a model of genuine Arab brotherhood.
Speaking during a joint press conference at the Ittihadiya Presidential Palace, President El-Sisi stated that the visit comes at a critical and complex regional moment, reaffirming the solidarity between the two peoples and governments.
The Egyptian and Lebanese presidents held comprehensive talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic and commercial sectors. Both leaders expressed their shared interest in leveraging Egypt’s leading expertise to support Lebanon’s reconstruction efforts.
President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm position in backing Lebanon’s full sovereignty and internal stability, while strongly condemning Israel’s repeated violations of Lebanese territory and its continued occupation of certain areas.
He also underscored Egypt’s ongoing diplomatic efforts with regional and international actors to pressure Israel into an immediate and unconditional withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese lands, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
“Egypt calls for the full and simultaneous implementation of Resolution 1701, without selectivity, to empower the Lebanese state to extend its sovereignty and strengthen the role of the Lebanese Army south of the Litani River,” President El-Sisi stated.
