Sisi: Pleased to Meet President of European Commission

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, and discussed boosting Egypt-EU relations and tackle global food security crisis.

"I was pleased to meet with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen within the framework of fruitful cooperation and mutual dialogue between Egypt and the European Union across all fields," Sisi tweeted on Wednesday.

He added "I would like to express my pleasure with this meeting and to confirm the strong relations between Egypt and the EU, which are moving towards more cooperation and partnership in various fields, the most important of which are energy and food security and climate, in addition to coordination efforts on many regional and international issues."

The the talks, Sisi and the EU Commission Head held a press conference, hailing Egypt-EU historical and vital relations.

During the talks, Sisi and von der Leyen dealt with ways to achieve the hoped-for qualitative leap in the Egyptian-European partnership during the coming period by strengthening cooperation in a number of priority sectors, within the framework of the Egyptian development vision, foremost of which are: energy, clean energy, food security, digital transformation, electric transport, modern agriculture and irrigation, vaccine manufacturing, as well as mechanisms to encourage European companies to pump more investments in Egypt and the tripartite cooperation between Egypt and the European Union with other partners in the African continent.
