Egyptian Abdel-Fattah El Sisi attended earlier today the 31st intellectual seminar of the Egyptian Armed Forces to celebrate the 46th anniversary of Egypt's victory in the war against Israel on October 6th, 1973.
El-Sisi added that the October War represented a milestone in the history of military science, pointing out, “Our strength lies in our unity”.
He noted that there are a lot of morals to be learnt from October victory, which was achieved by will, patience and hard work, confirming that the only way to maintain security is to have a national army and modern weapons.
El-Sisi added, “Therefore, since assuming previous post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and now as a president, I have been keen to strengthen the capabilities of our armed forces due to Egypt’s unique geographical location in a turbulent environment.
He confirmed that there is no country in the Arab region able to maintain its security and stability without Egypt’s assistance.
“The Egyptian people did not lose their confidence in the Egyptian army even at their major defeat in Naksa, 1967,” Sisi said.
He stressed that if Egyptians lose confidence in themselves, they will lose confidence in the army and its capabilities, saying “What we have witnessed during the past two months of attempts was to harm, distort and humble the value of the army and its capabilities.”
“The armed forces did not ask for donations from the Egyptians to rebuild their capacity, as happened after the 1967 war,” Sisi said.
Following the 1967 war, Sisi explained that Egyptians were donating to rebuild the army, with artists holding concerts inside and outside Egypt to collect donations.
Sisi added that the government at that time made it a priority to provide money to the army for the sake of their dignity and to restore the land and their pride, which was badly damaged after 1967.
