“With great sadness and sorrow, Egypt mourns Jehan El Sadat, wife of late President Anwar Mohamed El Sadat, the hero of peace and war,” Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady said on Friday.
Rady added that she backed her husband under the most difficult and precise circumstances, representing a model of the Egyptian women.
He noted that she supported her husband until he accomplished a historic victory in the glorious October War; a milestone in the modern history of Egypt, and restored her pride and dignity.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued a decree awarding Mrs. Jehan El-Sadat the Order of Perfection. Moreover, the Axis of Paradise will be named after her.
