Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call on Wednesday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which both leaders emphasized the importance of reviving political dialogue and resuming nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shenawy, President El-Sisi strongly condemned Iran’s recent missile strike on Qatar, affirming Egypt’s firm rejection of any act that undermines the sovereignty of Arab or Islamic states.
He welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, stressing the need to maintain and adhere to it to prevent further regional escalation.
The two leaders also discussed Egypt’s ongoing diplomatic efforts, including direct engagements with key international actors, most notably the United States, to de-escalate tensions and restore stability in the region. El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting and consolidating the ceasefire agreement.
President El-Sisi and President Pezeshkian agreed that the current sensitive phase requires advancing comprehensive political solutions that account for the broader dimensions of regional security.
They jointly stressed the urgent need to resume nuclear talks between the US and Iran, address non-proliferation concerns, and work toward establishing a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction.
