President Sisi Demands International Probe into Gaza's Legal Violations

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt has called for an international investigation into the violations committed against international law in the Gaza Strip.

 During his speech at the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh, President Sisi expressed deep concern over the repercussions of unilateral policies and the lack of action to halt the war in Gaza, which he warned might lead to an escalation of military conflicts throughout the region.

President Sisi condemned the continued and unprecedented aggression in Gaza, which he said could drastically alter the geopolitical dynamics from one day to the next. He lamented the heavy and painful toll the conflict takes on the people of Palestine and on all communities with a conscience, noting how it uncovers the inadequacies of double standards and the breakdown of what he termed pretentious humanitarian claims.

Furthermore, President Sisi underlined the necessity for the international community to take responsibility for ensuring the safety of innocent Palestinian civilians and for Israel to fulfill its international duties as the occupying force. He emphasized that the policies of collective punishment—including killings, blockades, and forced displacement inflicted on the people of Gaza—are indefensible and must be halted immediately.

In his summit address, President Sisi also extended his thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the summit. He highlighted the dire conditions faced by the Palestinian people, subjected to killings and blockades, and enduring inhumane practices reminiscent of the Middle Ages. He stressed that these conditions demand a serious international response.
