President Abdel Fattah El Sisi delegated Minister of Defense General Mohamed Zaki to lay a wreath of flowers, Sunday, on the tomb of former Leader Gamal Abdel Nasser.
On the occasion of reviving the 50th anniversary of Nasser’s death, Sisi sent his warm greetings and feelings of appreciation to the late president’s family, according to the Official Spokesperson Tamer El-Refaei wrote on his official Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Sisi used to delegate the minister of defense to visit the tomb of Nasser as a sign of respect and appreciation to the late Egyptian leader.
On Sept 28, 1971, over a million paid homage on the first anniversary of Nasser’s death.
Zaki emphasized that Egyptian history is full of the achievements of the glorious July revolution led by Nasser along with the vanguards of the armed forces and supported by the masses of the Egyptian people.
“Today, the great Egyptian people and their leaders are making a new era in history with a free will capable of continuing the civilized march and building a secure and stable society in which Egyptians feel their pride and dignity,” the defense minister said.
It’s noteworthy that Nasser was the second President of Egypt who led the 1952 overthrow of the monarchy and introduced far-reaching land reforms the following year.
He was born on 15 January 1918 and died on 28 September 1970. He officially assumed office in June 1956.
