President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received today, Wednesday, General Joseph Aoun, Commander of the Lebanese Army, stressing that “national armies are the backbone that guarantees the stability of states.”
Lieutenant-General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, and Ali Al-Halabi, Ambassador of the Lebanese Republic, in Cairo, attended the meeting, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
Rady said that Sisi welcomed General Aoun on his visit to Egypt, within the framework of talks with the Minister of Defense and Military Production, lauding the depth of the close relations between Egypt and Lebanon at the official and popular levels.
“The President expressed Egypt's keenness on safety and security of Lebanon and hailed the primary role played by the Lebanese National Army to maintain stability and balance in the country,” added Rady.
“The national armies are the backbone that guarantees cohesion and stability of states,” Sisi affirmed during the meeting.
On his part, General Aoun expressed his honour to meet the President, conveying to His Excellency the greetings of Lebanese President Michel Aoun.
Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon's keenness to strengthen the strong historical relations between the two countries, based on the foundations of solidarity and brotherhood, expressing his country's appreciation for the Egyptian effort in supporting Lebanon in all fields, as an extension of Egypt's pivotal role in maintaining stability in the entire Arab region.
Moreover, the meeting dealt with ways to enhance the existing bilateral cooperation frameworks between the two countries and to benefit from the Egyptian experience in many fields.
