On Tuesday, president Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola and discussed boosting bilateral relations, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with Anna Paola, Minister of Youth and Sports of Angola, and Nelson Manuel, the Angolan ambassador in Cairo, attended the meeting.
“Sisi asked the Angolan envoy to convey his greetings to his brother, President João Lourenço, stressing the importance that Egypt attaches to strengthening the relations that linkit with Angola in various fields, especially trade and investment exchange, in addition to joint security and military cooperation, as well as in terms of technical cooperation and capacity building,” said Rady.
The president also referred to Egypt’s keenness to maximize coordination and consultation with the Angolan side, and President “Lourenço” personally, with regard to ways to strengthen the mechanisms of joint African action, whether institutional, political or development, in a way that contributes to achieving the growth and stability that African countries aspire to.
On his part, António expressed his honor to meet Sisi, conveying to His Excellency a written message from his brother, the Angolan president, in which he affirmed his country’s aspiration to develop the course of bilateral relations and advance the frameworks of joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries at various levels.
He also stressed Angola’s desire to work with Egypt to confront the many challenges facing the continent, which require concerted African efforts to confront them through activating African action mechanisms common, especially at the level of the African Union.
The meeting also witnessed the exchange of visions on a number of regional files of common interest, as well as ways to combine efforts between the two countries to combat the phenomenon of terrorism and extremist ideology on the African continent, especially by strengthening security cooperation between the relevant agencies of the two countries and in coordination with the relevant continental efforts in order to confront this transnational scourge.
