Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, said that the call covered the latest developments in the ongoing negotiations and Egyptian efforts to reach calm in the Gaza Strip, a ceasefire, and the exchange of hostages.
The danger of the military escalation in the Palestinian city of Rafah was also stressed, as it will add catastrophic dimensions to the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Strip, as well as its effects on the security and stability of the region.
The official spokesman stated that the President stressed the necessity of full and adequate access to humanitarian aid, reviewing the intensive Egyptian efforts in this regard.
The two presidents also stressed the need to work to prevent the expansion of the circle of conflict, and reaffirmed the importance of the two-state solution as a way to achieve security, peace and stability in the region.
