Sisi Affirms Egypt's Keenness to Strengthen Cooperation, Strategic Partnership with Japan

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed the appreciation that Japan and its ancient civilization enjoys in Egypt at both the official and popular levels, stressing Egypt’s keenness to work to continue and strengthen the relations of cooperation and strategic partnership between the two friendly countries in various fields, especially industry, transportation, energy, education, tourism and culture.

This came during President Sisi’s meeting, Friday, in Dubai, with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, on the sidelines of COP28.

The official spokesman for the Presidency Ahmed Fahmy stated that President Sisi and the Japanese Prime Minister held an expanded discussion session, during which Kishida indicated that Japan welcomed the positive developments witnessed in joint relations at all levels, praising what Egypt has achieved on the development level, especially within the framework of Implementing many major projects, which contributed to motivating Japanese companies to double their activity in Egypt to take advantage of the promising investment opportunities provided by these projects.

The PM stressed that his country attaches special importance to its relations with Egypt at the levels of bilateral cooperation and political consultation, due to the centrality of Egypt's role in its regional environment and the Middle East region.

The official spokesman stated that the meeting touched on the issue of climate change and a number of regional files of common interest, most notably the developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, where the two leaders expressed deep regret at the resumption of fighting and the fall of more civilian casualties, stressing their condemnation of targeting and killing civilians.

In this regard, President Sisi presented the developments in Egyptian efforts to calm the situation and extend the humanitarian truce to reach a ceasefire.

The two sides agreed on the utmost necessity of providing relief aid to the people of the Gaza Strip in appropriate quantities, and providing full protection for civilians.

They stressed Egypt and Japan’s rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians in any form , pointing out the need to work seriously to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution in accordance with international references, in a way that opens broad horizons for peaceful coexistence among all the peoples of the region.
