Shtayyeh: The international community must translate “establishing a Palestinian state” into practical steps

Today, Monday, Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh called on the international community to translate the international consensus on establishing the State of Palestine into practical steps that embody the state on the ground towards ending the occupation, and the world must begin thinking about imposing sanctions on Israel for its continued aggression, colonialism and occupation, and for its rejection of peace.

Shtayyeh said, during his government’s weekly meeting in Ramallah, that there is an important international movement around the two-state solution, and that the world should not pay attention to the position of Netanyahu and his government that rejects the two-state solution, and should work to end the occupation, recognize the State of Palestine bilaterally, and vote. Shtayyeh continued: “Water and electricity are still cut off, the work of communications networks fluctuates, and the international press is still prohibited from reaching Gaza, as well as the Palestinian press.

Shtayyeh stressed that this situation in Gaza and the West Bank must stop, and the Israeli killing and aggression machine must stop, and its sponsors must stop supporting it.
